Earlier this month, a letter from Michigan Athletics proposed significant changes to the Big House.
The major proposed change was the scoreboards, which the athletics department said are antiquated. On Thursday afternoon, those changes were reportedly approved.
According to a report from The Michigan Insider, the University of Michigan’s Board of Regents approved the project. It will reportedly cost $41,000,000.
Here’s more from The Michigan Insider:
The scoreboards will cost $12 million, with the remaining portion of the the $41 million estimated cost of the project earmarked for “technology and facility upgrades,” The Michigan Insider has learned.
“The scoreboards are one part of a huge technology upgrade, replacing a 10 year old technical studio that serves many mens and womens sports and upgrading the facilities at both Crisler and Michigan Stadium,” wrote Jordan Acker, a member of the Board of Regents.
The project will reportedly be completed in the fall semester of 2023. It would make sense for the project to be completed before the Wolverines take the field for the 2023 season.
