Jordan Love isn’t expected to play much for the Packers this season – if at all – but he remains the likely quarterback of the future in Green Bay.
The second-year quarterback got some extended action this preseason, as MVP Aaron Rodgers didn’t see the field.
Saturday night, head coach Matt LaFleur assessed his young quarterback’s performance.
“I think for the most part he’s done a nice job,” LaFleur said, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com. “Certainly these are teachable moments, and I think you have to experience those and go through those in a game setting to really learn from them, so I’m pretty certain that he will learn from those mistakes and hopefully he doesn’t repeat them.”
Love will only play for the Packers this season in blowouts or because of injury.
Still, he could be the full-time man as early as 2022.
Rodgers’ future in Green Bay post-2021 is very much up in the air. The Packers drafted Love in the first round in 2020 so he could be their quarterback of the future.
Love took some nice steps this preseason, but he clearly has a long ways to go.
