Though he had to wait longer than expected, Liberty quarterback Malik Willis finally came off the board in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. The Tennessee Titans selected him with the 86th overall pick.
Despite sliding down the draft board, Willis was ecstatic to hear his name called on Friday night. In fact, his reaction to getting drafted has been the talk of the NFL over the past 12 hours.

As for Willis’ new home, Tennessee is a solid landing spot for him. He’ll have the chance to learn from an experienced quarterback in Ryan Tannehill.
Titans head coach Mike Vrabel is excited to have Willis join his quarterback room for the 2022 season. However, he’s not ready to say what the rookie’s role will look like this fall.
“We are excited to add Malik to the quarterback room,” Vrabel said. “We are really just excited about being able to develop young players and see what happens. I don’t think anybody is going to be able to talk about anybody’s future tonight. … I know Malik is ready to get here, and get to work.”
Willis certainly has the talent to be a starting quarterback in the NFL. It’ll be up to him and the Titans’ coaching staff to make sure he reaches his full potential.
