Just about every year there’s a first pitch in a baseball game that’s either so bad or so bizarre that people wonder whether it can ever be topped. This year’s first pitch of that nature wasn’t even thrown in the United States.
At a recent game for the South Korean baseball team the SSG Landers, Olympic figure skater Kim Ye-lim was invited to throw the first pitch. Ye-lim made sure to add her own personal flair to it.
The 19-year-old figure skater’s windup for the pitch featured a set comparable to her own dancing on the ice. She even did a mid-air flip to really make it her own before capping the “routine” off with a strike.
The clip has gone viral with over 3,700 likes just from the account of The Athletic’s Sung Min Kim. The comments are pretty wholesome with many complimenting her on being able to throw a strike in that situation.

Kim Ye-lim began figure-skating when she was only seven years old but came into her own in the sport as a young teen. She won numerous medals competing in South Korea’s figure-skating circuit before qualifying for the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Unfortunately, Olympic medals just weren’t meant to be. She finished ninth in the short program and 11th in free skate, finishing ninth overall.
Ye-lim probably doesn’t have a future in Major League Baseball after that pitch. But it’s clear that she’s a remarkable athlete worthy of respect.
