The madness continues into Day 2 of this year’s NCAA Tournament.
Just before halftime of today’s first-round contest between No. 6 seed Texas and No. 11 seed Virginia Tech, Longhorns guard Marcus Carr drilled a three-point buzzer beater from well beyond the half-court line.
This miraculous shot propelled Texas to a 34-32 lead over the Hokies at the half.

This big-time shot gave Carr five total points to close out the half. Senior star Andrew Jones leads the way for the Longhorns with a game-high 17 points.
Texas holds its current two-point lead despite shooting just 34.4 percent from the field compared to the Hokies’ 47.8 percent. Second-chance points have been a huge story through the first period as the Longhorns are out-rebounding VT with eight offensive boards to three. The Hokies also have four turnovers compared to UT’s zero.
If the ending of the first half is any indication, we could be in for an exciting conclusion to this tightly-contested matchup.
