Is anyone happier with North Carolina’s Elite Eight win than former Tar Heels head coach Roy Williams?
The answer might be no.
Williams, who led UNC to three national championships during his time leading the Tar Heels program, was in attendance for the win over St. Peter’s on Sunday night.
Following the win, Williams spoke about his thoughts on the win.
“It’s perhaps, for me, the greatest moment in my basketball career. I’ve never had any more faith and love for one man and to think that he’s just won it — he’s been better than I ever was, right now,” Williams said of UNC head coach Hubert Davis.
Caught up with a very emotional Roy Williams in the stands, mid-celebration: “It’s perhaps, for me, the greatest moment in my basketball career. I’ve never had any more faith and love for one man and to think that he’s just won it — he’s been better than I ever was, right now.”
