Look: Patrick Beverley Reacts To Getting Traded To Minnesota

Patrick Beverley was a member of the Grizzlies for one day before Memphis redirected him to Minnesota on Monday. The Grizzlies traded Beverley for Jarrett Culver and Juancho Hernangomez, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

On Twitter Tuesday, Beverley expressed his excitement about joining a talented young Wolves roster.

Minnesota’s two greatest assets are big man Karl Anthony-Towns and second-year guard Anthony Edwards. Towns, still just 25, is a two-time all-star and one of the most talented centers in the league. Edwards, the first overall selection in the 2020 draft, averaged 19.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game during a tremendously promising rookie campaign.

Despite their sky-high ceilings, Towns and Edwards have yet to play winning basketball. Both players have demonstrated the ability to log monster stats, but competitiveness has been a concern. That’s where Beverley comes in.

For Minnesota general manager Gersson Rosas, who worked with Beverley in Houston, the hope is that Beverley’s edge will rub off on the Wolves’ young core. Beverley is regarded as one of the most determined competitors and leaders in the league.

On the other side of the trade, the Grizzlies take a flier on the 22 year-old Culver, whom the Wolves picked sixth overall in 2019. Hernangomez is a competent rotational big.

Beverley was a fan favorite throughout his four seasons with the Clippers. He was the emotional leader alongside quiet stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. The hustling point guard, now 33, will assume a similar role in Minnesota.
