How long ago does it feel that the Lakers were the prohibitive title favorites after landing Marc Gasol?
It’s hard to imagine that with just a handful of games to go in the season, LA can miss the playoffs entirely; and the star-studded Nets are guaranteed to be in the play-in (minus James Harden).
It was the talk of NBA Twitter Saturday night.
“I still can’t believe that entering the final week of the regular season, the Nets are in 10th place in the East and the Lakers are in 11th in the West,” said ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk.

“Nets are fortunate to have the Lakers taking up all the national derision,” tweeted Sports Media Watch. “Even with all the caveats to this season, it’s truly hard to believe they’re in the #9-10 slot — losing to Atlanta tonight to fall a game back — with a week to go in the season.”

“The Nets are a lot more similar to the Lakers than we’d like to admit,” said a Brooklyn Nets writer.
