The Minnesota Golden Gophers will kickoff their 2021 season with a big-time matchup against the Ohio State Buckeyes.
As if they needed anymore reason to be excited about this primetime in-conference contest, the program unveiled fresh new uniforms for the game earlier this weekend.
Under the lights in Huntington Bank Stadium for their season opener, the Golden Gophers will be rocking black pants, black jerseys and maroon helmets. The jerseys will be decked out with white numbers and maroon trim.
It’s fair to say the Minnesota squad was thrilled by this combination. On Saturday, the team revealed the new uniforms to its players.

Despite suiting up in the same conference, the last time these two Big Ten rivals faced off was in 2018. In that contest, the Buckeyes took down the Golden Gophers 30-14.
The all-time series between these programs leans heavily in Ohio State’s favor at 45-7. The Buckeyes are currently enjoying a 10-game win streak dating back to 2001.
Maybe with these new threads, the underdog Minnesota squad can put up a fight against their Big Ten powerhouse rival.
The Week 1 matchup will kickoff on Thursday Sep. 12 at 8 p.m. ET in Minneapolis. Ohio State is ranked No. 4 in the preseason polls — the Golden Gophers are unranked.
