Look: Kevin Durant Not Happy With Teammate’s Comment About Celtics

April 13, 2022 by The Spun

Kevin Durant speaks to the media during Nets Media Day.

On Tuesday night, the Brooklyn Nets took down the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first-round of the NBA Play-In tournament — locking them in as the No. 7 seed and setting them up for a first-round matchup against the No. 2-seed Boston Celtics.

Celtics starting center Robert Williams is set to miss Boston’s first-round with a knee injury, leaving Al Horford and Daniel Theis to pick up the slack in the post.

After tonight’s win, fourth-year NBA pro Bruce Brown said the Nets will look to exploit the Celtics’ thinning big-man depth chart.

“Them not having Robert Williams is huge. We can attack Theis and Horford in the paint,” Brown said in a postgame press conference.

Brooklyn superstar Kevin Durant wasn’t happy with his younger teammate after these comments.

“We respect our opponents,” KD said. “We don’t need to talk about what we’re going to do to them. I didn’t like that….We don’t need to say shit like that. Lets just go out there and hoop.”

Durant put together an excellent performance in tonight’s win, logging 25 points, 11 assists and five rebounds. Brown chipped in a near-triple-double 18 points, eight assists and nine rebounds of his own.

The Nets will begin their true playoff journey with a Game 1 matchup against the Celtics on April 17 in Boston.
