John Cena did not win the WWE Championship against Roman Reigns at the SummerSlam pay-per-view over the weekend. Unfortunately for his fans, that loss may be the last time they see him in a WWE ring for a while.
Taking to Twitter on Monday, Cena announced that he’s taking another break from wrestling. He offered thanks to the WWE Universe for their support in his recent return to the ring after his extended absence.
“Words cannot describe how appreciative I am that the WWE Universe allowed me the opportunity to return and perform,” Cena said. “Thank you staff, superstars, and most of all FANS for giving me an unforgettable summer at “home” with my “family”. The journey takes me away now but I’ll C U soon.”
According to Colby Faria of Mandatory.com, Cena is being advertised for a WWE event on September 10. But he is also reportedly heading to Europe for filming his latest movie.

John Cena has been very focused on his acting career over the past few years. His performance in his most recent film, The Suicide Squad, was received very well by critics.
HBO has already cast him as the title character and given him producer credits in their upcoming series, Peacemaker.
Cena rose to prominence as one of the faces of WWE between 2004 and 2017. He captured dozens of titles and headlined WrestleMania on multiple occasions.
He is tied with WWE legend Ric Flair with 16 world championships.
We clearly haven’t seen the last of Cena in a WWE ring. But who knows how long it’ll be before he returns again?
