South Carolina sent a message to the rest of the field with its performance in the first half of Friday’s game against Howard.
Though it might sound too good to be true, the Gamecocks actually have a 44-4 lead going into the second half.
Of course, South Carolina’s defense has really suffocated Howard’s offense in the first half. Its starting lineup has also done an excellent job of sharing the ball on offense.
Brea Beal, Aliyah Boston, Lele Grissett and Victaria Saxton all have at least six points each thus far.
While the Gamecocks deserve a ton of credit for their first-half performance, the majority of the sports world just can’t believe the Bison have just four points on the board.
Unfortunately for Howard, it’s on the wrong side of NCAA tournament history.
Halftime: South Carolina 44, Howard 4
Fewest points scored in a half in NCAA tournament history. Gamecocks defense just suffocating.

At this point, it’s highly unlikely Howard turns this game around and applies some pressure on South Carolina.
As for the Gamecocks, they’re looking to carry this positive momentum into the Round of 32.
