Despite turning his ankle in the first half, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James finished last night’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans, posting 39 points in a 116-108 loss.
After the game, James told reporters his ankle felt “horrible.” Now, we can see why he said that.
A screenshot of the moment James rolled his left ankle has been going viral on Twitter, and it’s a pretty gnarly photo. LeBron’s foot is basically at a 90-degree angle.

While James was able to gut it out in the second half, he shot just 5-of-14 after a 25-point outburst in the first two quarters. With the loss, the Lakers fell to 31-43 on the season and into 10th place in the Western Conference.
With just a one game lead over the 11th-place Spurs with eight games remaining, LA is in serious danger of falling out of the play-in round and missing the postseason entirely.
Now, with LeBron’s health in question, the likelihood that the Lakers are home during the playoffs could be even greater.
