A young fan at Yankees Stadium took a shot to the head from a Giancarlo Stanton home run on Thursday night. Thankfully, he appeared to be okay soon after the collision.
With a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the third, Stanton absolutely lasered a line-drive to right field. The ball was in the air for just three seconds before leaving the park and colliding with the child’s forehead.
The young fan tried to get his glove up in time but it was too late.
Broadcast cameras caught footage of the scary incident:

It wasn’t all bad for the kid though.
Seemingly fine just moments after the blow, the young Yankees fan was given a game ball — by infamous umpire Angel Hernandez no less.

This home run marked Stanton’s 20th of the year. The former league MVP’s solo shot helped the Yankees to a 7-5 victory over the Minnesota Twins.
New York’s overall record now sits at 70-52 — second in the AL East behind the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Yankees have three more games this weekend in their home series against the Twins. They’ll face off again tonight at 7:05 p.m. ET.
