College basketball fans aren’t happy with tonight’s broadcast of the Final Four battle between Duke and North Carolina.
CBS/Turner, which broadcasted Saturday’s Final Four games on three different channels, used dozens of different camera angles during the games.
Some angles were awesome. Others were confusing. All in all, so many angles proved to be a distraction from the game itself.
ESPN, meanwhile, stuck to a traditional broadcast. As noted by Timothy Burke, CBS/Turner can learn a thing or two.
“I think ESPN understands the college basketball broadcasting thing better than CBS/Turner,” Burke wrote.

Don’t get us wrong. We love a good camera angle at a sports game. But there becomes a point when there’s one too many. CBS/Turner hit that point early in the first half of the Duke vs. North Carolina Final Four game.
Moving forward networks should really decide on four to five unique angles to provide shots from. Anything more generally becomes a bit too much.
The good news, however, is that Saturday night’s Final Four game was so good we’re not sure fans cared about all the angles too much. Duke vs. North Carolina proved to be the thriller everyone was expecting when the matchup became official.
Catch the rest of the action – and all of CBS/Turner’s accompanying camera angles – right now on TNT, TBS or TruTV.
