The preseason of the National Football League gives fans the taste of football they’ve been waiting months for.
It signals the looming season, but it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. While it’s used as a time for players to get acclimated before the regular season kicks off, there’s usually an uptick in injuries.
Player’s bodies aren’t used to the wear and tear of a season and that comes with unfortunate consequences. On Thursday night, the Philadelphia Eagles learned that first hand when they took on the New England Patriots.
During the first half of action, Eagles tight end Jason Croom suffered what looked to be a significant injury. Croom attempted to break out of a route, but immediately slumped to the turf.
Unfortunately, the wasn’t able to get back up and had to be carted off the field.

Preseason injuries can derail a team’s season before the season even kicks off. While Croom wasn’t a vital starter to the Eagles’ offense, it’s still a blow the team didn’t want.
Earlier this afternoon, the New York Jets lost star pass rusher Carl Lawson to a torn Achilles. Just a few months after signing with the team, Lawson will miss the entire 2021 season.
Hopefully Croom’s diagnosis isn’t as severe and he’ll be able to return at some point this season.
