Given his chiseled physique, one would think DK Metcalf follows a super-strict diet to stay in optimal shape.
They’d be wrong.
In an episode of Showtime Basketball’s “KG Certified,” the Seattle Seahawks wide receiver explained his unconventional diet, admitting to a dismayed Kevin Garnett that he’s “probably the worst person to ask” about the importance of nutrition.
“I eat one meal a day, drink one coffee and eat like three, four bags of candy,” Metcalf said.

When Garnett asked Metcalf what candy he’s consuming, the 24-year-old said he mixed bags of Skittles and Life Savers gummies the previous day. He confirmed that’s a regular occurrence to a stunned Garnett.
It’s safe to say a team nutritionist has not approved this sugar-heavy plan. If he hasn’t already, he might hear from the organization once they listen to this interview.
This is also a far cry from the health regiment Metcalf described to GQ’s Alex Shultz before beginning his rookie campaign in 2019.
“It’s a low-carb diet. A lot of proteins and veggies,” Metcalf said. “Like today, for breakfast, [my private chef] had me eating a lot of vegetables, three slices of bacon, and some fruit. I try not to eat a lot of fats and oils, and I stay away from carbs and sugars.”
Despite his sweet tooth, Metcalf has scored 29 touchdowns in three tremendous NFL seasons. The world-class athlete hardly has a trace of body fat on him. He’s also spending hours working out, but the 6’4″, 235-pound wideout must also have a metabolism as quick as his downfield vertical speed.
Kids, and especially adults, don’t try this diet at home.
