Look: Cowboys Fans Loving Micah Parsons Preseason Play

August 22, 2021 by The Spun Leave a Comment

Micah Parsons at Dallas Cowboys training camp.

Going into the 2021 NFL Draft, there was a pretty strong case to be made that linebacker Micah Parsons was the best defender on the board. He was a dynamic playmaker at Penn State and had athletic measurables off the charts.

The Dallas Cowboys wasted no time picking Parsons when he fell to them at No. 12 overall. And judging by the fan reaction, their investment is already paying off.

During the Cowboys’ preseason game against the Houston Texans, Parsons had fans giddy over some of the things he was doing. While he didn’t light up the stat sheet, one particular play had people buzzing.

On one play, Parsons rushed up the middle, eating a block from the Texans center. But the center wasn’t able to keep Parsons in place and needed help from the left guard. The left guard didn’t offer much help either as Parsons shed both of their blocks and narrowly missed getting to the quarterback before the ball was thrown away.

Needless to say, Cowboys fans are excited. Many are praising what an incredible force of nature he might be – one fan went so far as to compare him to the late-great Reggie White:

Micah drawing more double teams than Dontari Poe did during his whole Cowboys run.

He made the center look like a ragdoll.

The way he pushed that center to the ground then accelerated was nice

That’s a Reggie White-esque move by Micah Parsons…

While it’s far too early to start measuring Micah Parsons for a gold jacket, Cowboys fans are understandably pumped for this year.

The defense was the Achilles heel of the Cowboys last year as injuries and all-around poor play caused the team to give up a franchise-record 473 points. They need playmakers, and they need them ASAP.

It’s hard to truly gauge if Parsons will have this kind of an impact against first-team offenses and elite teams. But the early looks right now are very promising.

Will Micah Parsons be the best rookie defender of 2021?
