Jordan Spieth defeated Patrick Cantlay in a playoff to win the RBC Heritage on Sunday. Before entering the winner-take-all showdown, he stopped to address fans waiting for him at Harbour Town Golf Links.
As captured by the PGA Tour’s Twitter page, Spieth explained that he had to see if there would be a playoff, but he promised to return afterward.
If true to his word, the 28-year-old went back victorious.

A week after missing The Masters cut at Augusta National, Spieth shot a 13-under in South Carolina to secure his first win of the season. The Texas native was struggling to find his true form, also missing The Players Championship cut and finishing outside the top 20 in all events aside from a runner-up placement at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February.
Spieth got back on track with his second straight win on Easter Sunday. Last year, he took first place at the Valero Texas Open with an 18-under in San Antonio.
Not many athletes would have the presence or willingness to speak to fans in the heat of a major moment. Yet Spieth, without knowing if he would have his mood dampened, still wouldn’t dismiss attendees hoping for an autograph or picture.
