Bryson DeChambeau has made headlines for mostly the wrong reasons this year, but it’s time to give credit where credit is due. The 27-year-old got off to an insane start at the BMW Championship on Friday.
DeChambeau, 27, shot seven-under through eight holes in his second round at the BMW Championship on Friday. His blazing hot start propelled him to the top of the leaderboard in a tie with Hudson Swafford and Patrick Cantlay, all of which were 11-under as of Friday afternoon.
We’ve seen this story before, though. DeChambeau has a knack for starting hot, but can he remain consistent into the weekend? That’s been one of DeChambeau’s biggest struggles, especially over the past two years. It’ll be interesting to see whether or not he can continue his strong play on Saturday and Sunday.
So far, so good for DeChambeau at the BMW Championship.

He’s even dominating the short game, which has traditionally been one of Bryson DeChambeau’s weaknesses.

One of Bryson DeChambeau’s biggest obstacles this year has been off-course drama. His caddie walked away from his position, DeChambeau then hired a new caddie, he complained multiple times about his driver and let’s not forget about his feud with Brooks Koepka.
If DeChambeau puts those things behind him, he’s capable of being one of the best in the game. Distractions certainly didn’t bother him on Friday at the BMW Championship.
