Look: Adrian Peterson Reacts To The J.K. Dobbins News

August 29, 2021 by The Spun Leave a Comment

JK Dobbins runs the ball for the Ravens.

Baltimore Ravens running back J.K. Dobbins is feared to have suffered a season-ending ACL injury in last night’s preseason game against Washington.

Heading into his second season, Dobbins appeared poised for a breakout campaign. Now, if an MRI confirms the worst, he’ll spend the fall beginning the road back from a serious knee injury.

It is a road that we’ve seen several high-profile running backs travel, including Adrian Peterson. Peterson tore his ACL in December 2011 and famously returned to start all 16 games the following year on his way to an MVP season.

Since his own ordeal, we’ve seen Peterson come forward and offer support for other players who have torn their ACL. He did the same for Dobbins, posting social media encouragement for the young back.

“Minor setback for a legendary comeback! #AllDay,” Peterson wrote.

Dobbins is only 22, so he should be able to bounce back from an injury like this, even if it will take some time. Still, it’s brutal for him to lose a year of his prime before it even got started.

With Dobbins out, the Ravens will rely on Gus Edwards and Justice Hill while also possibly monitoring the trade or free agent markets. Peterson, meanwhile, is still unsigned heading into his age-36 season.

“I’m looking for a contender,” Peterson said last month, via SiriusXM NFL Radio. “I’m looking for a team that’s built to go and chase a championship. That’s my ultimate goal and I feel like I can really help to contribute in accomplishing that. A team with a good quarterback, a good defense and some playmakers on the offensive side of the ball. For me to be able to get into that type of situation would be perfect.”
