Lonzo Ball Likely Out For Season: Fans React

April 6, 2022 by The Spun

Chicago Bulls v Miami Heat

Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball is unlikely to return for the remainder of the 2021-22 season, per reports from ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

The former No. 2 draft pick reportedly suffered another setback with his left knee injury as he ramped up for a return.

“No final decision has been made, but a meeting in the coming days that is expected to include Bulls officials and Ball’s representatives at Klutch Sports is increasingly likely to culminate with shutting down Ball for the rest of the season, sources said,” Wojnarowski reported on Tuesday.

The NBA world took to Twitter to react to this unfortunate news.

“Welp.. this feels like such a wasted season,” one fan wrote.

“That’s that Bullsh** smh Bulls been having a great season….hopefully they still do good in the playoffs,” another added.

I was expecting this was going to be the case since his set back. Missing Zo has been a huge blow to our perimeter defense and flow of offense. Right now is a crucial time and our guards must step up. hopefully Coby can get out of this inconsistent funk he’s been in #BullsNation https://t.co/hSrjZ8ypJu

Awful news. Bulls were an entirely different team this year with Zo, and definitely one of the most exciting ones for that matter. https://t.co/GiOZO7Gsuq

Ball hasn’t taken the court for the Bulls since suffering a partially-torn meniscus on January 14. He underwent surgery to repair the injury later that month.

Before Ball went down in a loss to the Golden State Warriors, the Bulls were one of the hottest teams in the NBA — including a streak of nine straight wins in late-December, early-January. Ball was averaging 13.0 points, 5.1 assists and 5.4 rebounds through the first 35 games of the season.

Since then, the once-No. 1 Chicago squad has dropped to the No. 5 position in the Eastern Conference (45-33).

The Bulls will still look to make a postseason push with the combined efforts of DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic.
