In a stunning turn of events, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James announced that he is going to miss the remainder of the 2021-22 season.
“I’m out for the season officially,” LeBron wrote, adding a facepalm emoji. “See y’all in the fall.”
As with most things LeBron says, there’s been a lot of reactions to it. LeBron’s tweet already has over 130,000 likes and 27,000 retweets with 8,000 comments.
Fans immediately knew that this was an April Fool’s joke from the Lakers leader. Some were amused by the joke and believe that they can’t get rid of him that easily while others are upset that he’s joking about it given the state of the Lakers right now.
You’re about to be unless the Lakers somehow go on a big run against better teams. Not really worth joking about. Kobe never would have. https://t.co/a4abdkpI7X

Los Angeles Lakers fans have good reason to be so annoyed at LeBron James right now. At 31-45 and riding a four-game losing streak, they would miss the playoffs if the season ended today.
The Lakers have gone from being preseason NBA championship frontrunners to being lucky to reach the play-in round.
LeBron can joke about the situation all he wants, but for some people this is no laughing matter. Unless he rallies the Lakers to an incredible finish in the final few games, he’s going to be watching the playoffs from home.
Then his little April Fool’s joke will become a reality.
Was this April Fool’s tweet by LeBron James in bad taste?
