LeBron James Missing Another Important Game: Fans React

April 6, 2022 by The Spun

LeBron at the NBA All-Star Game in Cleveland.

The Los Angeles Lakers need LeBron James’ heroics now more than ever. Unfortunately, they won’t have them.

LeBron James has been ruled out for tonight’s game between the Lakers and Suns. Talk about bad timing.

If the Lakers lose tonight and the Spurs beat the Denver Nuggets they’ll officially be out of the playoff picture. LeBron will be watching his team, win or lose, courtside.

LeBron James is out tonight against the Suns with left ankle soreness, per the Lakers.

This is about as bad an outcome the Lakers could have had. It’s also a pretty bad look for LeBron, who just four days ago thought it’d be a good idea to tell an April Fools’ joke that he was going to miss the rest of the season.

I’m out for the season officially. 🤦🏾‍♂️. See y’all in the fall. 👑✌🏾

Lakers fans aren’t taking today’s LeBron James news very well:

It’s worth a reminder LeBron James isn’t quitting on his team. He’s still recovering from what looked like a pretty serious ankle injury last week.

y’all blaming LeBron for sitting out as if this wasn’t his ankle a week ago 💀 pic.twitter.com/px9RAcuhV1

And let’s not act like LeBron hasn’t been phenomenal this season. The man is averaging 30.3 points per game on the year.

The Lakers are done. Let’s move on.

The real question is what should the organization do with LeBron and Anthony Davis this offseason. There’s a real argument to be had that the Lakers should consider trading one, especially if LeBron wants out.

The Lakers’ season, meanwhile, could come to an end this evening. They play the Suns at 10:30 p.m. ET in what’s basically an elimination game for Los Angeles.
