LeBron James Just Passed Karl Malone On NBA’s All-Time Scoring Leaders List

March 20, 2022 by The Spun

DeAndre Jordan and LeBron James embrace.

King James inched himself closer to the all-time regular season scoring list throne on Saturday night. With his 20th point, LeBron James passed “The Mailman” Karl Malone to sit at second in NBA history.

James now only trails behind the magnificent Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who remains the NBA’s scoring king since 1984. His 38,387 points over the course of his legendary 20-year career have yet to be surpassed even with all the amazing talents that have entered this game since.

In year 19, LeBron James is averaging a remarkable 29.7 points per game. Just behind younger stars Joel Embiid (30 PPG) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (29.8 PPG). At 37 years of age, LeBron would become the oldest scoring champ in NBA history should he close the gap and take that lead.

Michael Jordan is currently the oldest player to ever lead the league in scoring at 35.

Another milestone for the King‼️

The milestones continue to rack up for King James this season. LeBron grabbed his 10,000th rebound and 10,000th assist in this calendar year; becoming the first player ever to record 30,000 points, 10,000 boards and 10,000 assists. Not only that, but he also became the NBA’s all-time leader in total points (regular season and playoffs combined).

Unfortunately for James, the Lakers haven’t enjoyed the same success in the standings. But they remain in the mix for the play-in game and anything can happen from there.
