Ohio State managed to get past Northwestern to win the Big Ten Championship Game, and the main reason was because Trey Sermon couldn’t be stopped.
Sermon had 29 carries for 331 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He found the end zone twice in the second half, catapulting the Buckeyes past the Wildcats in a must-win game.
This jaw-dropping performance from Sermon captivated the sports world this afternoon. Lakers superstar LeBron James, who is a huge fan of Ohio State, couldn’t help but tweet out a congratulatory message to Sermon.
“TREY SERMON TAKE A BOW! You earned that!!! #GoBucks The Best Thing About 6-0…,” James tweeted.

When you’re getting shoutouts from LeBron James, you know you’re doing something right.
Justin Fields and the entire passing attack for Ohio State was lifeless this afternoon. Not having Chris Olave certainly played a factor in their struggles. However, the Buckeyes were fortunate enough that Sermon put the entire offense on his back.
It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Sermon was named the MVP of the Big Ten Championship Game.
Since the Buckeyes capped off an undefeated regular season with a win over a top-15 team, the College Football Playoff committee should put them in the field of four.
Will we see this hot streak from Sermon continue in the Playoff? Only time will tell if there’s an encore performance in store for the Buckeyes.
