The Las Vegas Raiders recently signed veteran wide receiver Tyler Lockett, which likely signals a Jakobi Meyers trade. Now playing in the final year of his contract, Meyers requested a trade before the season, but the Raiders refused to deal him. At the time, the team believed they could compete for a playoff spot with new quarterback Geno Smith, head coach Pete Carroll, and rookie running back Ashton Jeanty.
Unfortunately, that hasn’t come to pass, as the team currently owns a 2-5 record as Smith and Carroll struggle to recapture their Seattle magic. Given that their season is effectively over, the Raiders have every reason to listen to Jakobi Meyers trade talks and get what they can for the talented wideout.
Raiders Likely to Trade Jakobi Meyers After Tyler Lockett Signing
Tyler Lockett is a shell of his former self, but the longtime Seahawk plays a similar style of football to Meyers. Keeping both players on the roster doesn’t make sense, and the Lockett signing is only smart if Vegas doesn’t plan on keeping Meyers on the roster. Seeing as the trade deadline is just a week away, don’t be surprised if Vegas sends its wideout to any of the following four teams.
