Las Vegas Raiders vs. Kansas City Chiefs: Preview, Odds, and Prediction

October 18, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

The Kansas City Chiefs are once again at Arrowhead Stadium for a Week 7 divisional clash against the Las Vegas Raiders, a matchup that pits two AFC West rivals on very different trajectories. The Chiefs, fresh off arguably their performance of the season in a statement win over the Detroit Lions, are looking to climb above .500 for the first time this year. Meanwhile, the Raiders enter the contest coming off a much-needed win over the Tennessee Titans, improving to 2-4 after four straight losses.

In what should be a heated divisional showdown, here’s a complete preview and prediction for Sunday’s matchup.

Las Vegas Raiders vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Betting Odds

Moneyline: Raiders (+525) vs. Chiefs (-750)

Spread: Raiders (+12) vs. Chiefs (-12)

Over/Under: 45.5 (O -110 / U -110)

Game Preview

For the first time in two full seasons, the Chiefs’ offense looks like the explosive unit fans came to expect during the first five years of the Mahomes era. The passing game is clicking again, Travis Kelce remains the ever-reliable safety valve, and the run game has benefited from that offensive balance. Everything came together in last week’s dominant win over Detroit — a performance that reestablished Kansas City as a legitimate offensive powerhouse.

And now, they’re about to get even more dangerous. Wide receiver Rashee Rice makes his long-awaited return after serving a six-game suspension, giving Mahomes his premier receiving weapon back. Rice’s presence should further open up the field for Kelce and speedster Xavier Worthy, making this Chiefs offense an even tougher assignment.

On the other side, the Raiders are still trying to find their rhythm under new head coach Pete Carroll and quarterback Geno Smith. While the team snapped its losing streak, consistency remains a major concern. Geno currently leads the league in interceptions, and Las Vegas’ offense has struggled to sustain drives as a result.

This matchup looks like a mismatch on paper. Still, divisional games rarely follow the script. Kansas City will have to guard against complacency, especially with the excitement surrounding Rice’s return. The uncertainty around rookie left tackle Josh Simmons could also be something to monitor. If he can’t go, Jaylen Moore will make his second straight start at left tackle, and he’ll face another tough test in star edge rusher Maxx Crosby.

If the Raiders can generate consistent pressure on Mahomes and spread the ball efficiently despite the likely absence of tight end Brock Bowers, they could make this interesting. But if the Chiefs’ offensive line holds up and Mahomes gets into rhythm early, it’s hard to see the Raiders keeping pace.

Key Players

Maxx Crosby (Raiders): The emotional and physical leader of the Raiders defense, Crosby will be fired up for this divisional battle. His ability to pressure Mahomes consistently could be the difference between a close game and a blowout.

Jaylen Moore (Chiefs): With rookie left tackle Josh Simmons’ status uncertain, Moore could get another start protecting Mahomes’ blind side. Moore held his own against Aidan Hutchinson last week, but Crosby is one of the league’s most relentless defenders.

Prediction

The Chiefs are the better team, playing with confidence, balance, and the best player in football operating at MVP level once again. For a Raiders squad still finding its footing and missing one of its top playmakers, this looks like too much to overcome, especially at Arrowhead.

Prediction: Raiders 17 – 24 Chiefs
