There are plenty of franchise quarterbacks who try to recruit players to come join their team, but apparently Lamar Jackson is not one of them.
Jackson revealed on Monday night why he allows the Baltimore Ravens’ front office to work its magic rather than directly reach out to prospective free agents.
As it turns out, Jackson says he is a bit of a jinx.
“Every time I done reached out they end up going to a divisional opponent soooo I let the front office handle their job,” he said in response to a tweet from former teammate Matthew Judon about how hard it is to recruit.

In fairness to Jackson and the Ravens, the team’s front office seems to be doing its job rather well so far this offseason.
Baltimore has already landed one “splashy” free agent, reportedly agreeing to a five-year, $70 million contract with former New Orleans Saints safety Marcus Williams.
Williams is guaranteed $37 million from that deal, which can become official once the 2022 league year officially opens at 4 p.m. ET tomorrow.
