The Los Angeles Lakers’ nightmarish season continues with Tuesday night’s matchup against the Dallas Mavericks.
At halftime of tonight’s nationally-televised game, the injury-ridden Lakers trail 82-56. The Mavericks are shooting a blistering 12/23 from behind the three-point line (52.2) and 27/48 from the field (56.3).
Dallas star Luka Doncic finished the half with 25 points, five rebounds and six assists.
82 points is the second-largest halftime score allowed in Lakers franchise history. The Mavs’ largest lead of the half was 30.

The Lakers allowed 82 points in the 1st half, their 2nd-most allowed in a 1st half in franchise history. The Celtics scored 83 points in the 1st half vs the Lakers on Feb. 27, 1959.

Los Angeles forward Anthony Davis has been out since suffering a mid-foot sprain back in February. Despite notching a full practice on Monday, AD was unable to suit up for tonight’s game. He’s expected to return to the floor sometime later this week.
LeBron James was also unable to take the floor tonight as he continues to recover from an ankle injury suffered during Sunday’s loss to the New Orleans Pelicans. With both of these stars out, the Lakers are forced to rely on a struggling Russell Westbrook to pick up the slack.
The Lakers currently hold the No. 10 spot in the Western Conference — just one half game ahead of the Spurs. With a loss tonight, the preseason title favorites will drop into No. 11 as San Antonio holds the tiebreak advantage.
Given their limited remaining schedule and current trajectory, there’s a very real possibility that the Lakers miss this year’s postseason.
