For the first time this NBA season, we’ll get to see Kyrie Irving play a full-time role for the Brooklyn Nets.
On Wednesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic announced that Irving will be cleared for home games moving forward. That’s because New York City’s private sector vaccine mandate will allow exemptions for athletes and entertainers.
“Sources: Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving will be cleared for home games as New York City will on Thursday change private sector vaccine mandate to allow exemption for athletes and entertainers in workplace. Unvaccinated Yankees and Mets players also now eligible for home games,” Charania announced on Twitter.
Under the previous rules, unvaccinated athletes were unable to perform in private-sector venues like Barclays Center and Citi Field.
Judging by the NBA world’s response to the news, most fans are happy that’ll Irving will be a full-time player for the rest of the 2021-22 season.

In 19 games this season, Irving is averaging 27.7 points and 5.3 assists per contest.
Of course, Irving returning to a full-time role is great news for the Nets and their chances of making a Finals run.
