Before Deshaun Watson made the shocking decision to waive his no-trade clause for the Cleveland Browns, the entire NFL world seemed to believe he was heading to Atlanta — including Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts.
After Watson signed his massive five-year, $230 million deal with the Browns, Pitts took to Twitter with a one-word reaction.
“Curveball ..” he wrote.

As of earlier this afternoon, the Falcons were considered the overwhelming favorites to land a trade for Watson. In fact, Cleveland had reportedly been eliminated from consideration earlier this week.
Watson, who reportedly reached out to the Falcons and had “strong interest” in joining the organization, was deep in discussions with his hometown team all week. The Atlanta front office even pushed 14-year incumbent starting quarterback Matt Ryan’s roster bonus to next week in order to accommodate a potential Watson trade.
Pitts is coming off a solid rookie season that saw him log 1,026 yards, one touchdown and a Pro Bowl appearance in 2021. Based on his reaction to this news, the former top-five pick was looking forward to catching passes from the three-time Pro-Bowl quarterback this coming season.
