The Arizona Cardinals looked like the best team in the National Football League for much of the 2021 season, but the NFC West team has been very inconsistent as of late.
Arizona, which started the season at 8-1, has dropped four of its last six games, now sitting at 10-5 on the season.
The Cardinals have clinched a playoff spot in the NFC, but head coach Kliff Kingsbury knows his team needs to play much better moving forward.
“I don’t think (qualifying) was ever on the forefront of our minds,” Kingsbury said Monday, per the team’s official site. “We’ve just been trying to improve and play better. That’s been the focus. To be in the playoffs with two games left is an accomplishment, and we understand that.
“But we know we’ve got to improve a lot and play better football and stop hurting ourselves in these games before we even think about taking the next step.”
The Cardinals looked pretty unstoppable on offense for the season’s first two months, but they’ve regressed in a major way.
Arizona will need quarterback Kyler Murray and the rest of the Cardinals’ offense to get back into a groove if a deep playoff run is going to happen.
