Who will be the “face” of college football in 2021?
Last year, there were a couple of different options, from Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence to Ohio State’s Justin Fields to Alabama’s Mac Jones.
But who will have the honor this year?
ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit has an idea. The veteran college football analyst believes that Miami Hurricanes quarterback D’Eriq King could hold that title.
“He could be the face of the sport this year,” Herbstreit said on the Tobin and Leroy Show on 790 The Ticket, per 247Sports. “He is everything that is right about the game. I feel like because he has solidified that position at quarterback, it not only impacts the offense, but also the defense and the belief of an entire team that we can win this game today.”
King, who previously played at Houston, is coming off an ACL injury. He showed major promise in 2020, throwing for 2,686 yards and 23 touchdowns while rushing for 538 yards and 4 touchdowns.
The Hurricanes quarterback has thrived both on and off the field, racking up a number of notable endorsement deals.
