On Tuesday night, the New York Giants officially parted ways with head coach Joe Judge. It was a move that fans have been hoping for since December.
Shortly after the decision was made, Giants owner John Mara explained his thought process behind letting Judge go.
“I said before the season started that I wanted to feel good about the direction we were headed when we played our last game of the season,” Mara said in his statement. “Unfortunately, I cannot make that statement, which is why we have made this decision.”
Less than 24 hours later, Mara held a press conference to address the Giants’ future. The franchise is now looking for a new head coach and general manager.
Even though the Giants fired Judge this week, Mara believes there’s still a really good head coach inside of him. Of course, that comment has drawn a significant amount of attention on social media.

Maybe there’s a scenario where Judge eventually develops into a solid NFL head coach, but it’s just too bold of a comment to make considering he went 10-23 in two seasons with the Giants.
It’ll be interesting to see if Judge can land another coaching gig at the pro level this offseason.
