Why did Joe Buck leave FOX?
Most would likely point to the money, as the longtime play-by-play announcer is reportedly getting $75 million over five years.
However, the longtime play-by-play man claims to have another main reason for leaving the network for ESPN’s Monday Night Football gig.
Family.
Buck’s wife, Michelle, works on ESPN’s Monday Night Football countdown. The family will now have the same work schedule.
“Having that kind of one centralized night to work in the Buck house and then come back and be with [their twin sons] was such a quality of life move for me that I couldn’t not really take it,” Buck said on his podcast.
“After 27 years at Fox, my goodbye on-air, on the network, is me singing dressed as a ram.”

Not everyone buys it, of course.
“That’s an odd way of saying the money,” one fan tweeted.
“Not mad at him for taking the money. As the saying goes, you have a limited amount of years where someone is going to pay you at THAT kind of money,” another fan added.
“Buck is very good. But football doesn’t need them to succeed,” one fan admitted.
Buck and Aikman will form one of the top announcing teams in all of football for ESPN next year.
