Jimbo Fisher’s Postgame Message To Playoff Committee Is Going Viral

December 19, 2020 by The Spun Leave a Comment

A solo shot of Jimbo Fisher in Texas A&M gear.

Jimbo Fisher and the No. 5 Texas A&M polished off Tennessee on Saturday to close out their regular season at 8-1. The SEC West squad looked strong once again they have throughout 2020.

Let the Aggies case for the College Football Playoff begin.

Fisher clearly became the most passionate supporter of getting his team into the coveted postseason tournament. Texas A&M finished second comfortably in the SEC West behind No. 1 Alabama. It’s obvious that the Aggies are one of the best one-loss teams in the country.

Unfortunately, Texas A&M got blown out by the Crimson Tide 52-24 in Week 2 of the SEC regular season. Although the loss came to the best team in the country, the Aggies looked absolutely baffled by Alabama which drastically hurt their postseason standing.

But in Fisher’s estimation, a one-loss season should be enough. In a postgame rant after Texas A&M’s comfortable 34-14 win, the Aggies head coach laid out his argument for playoff berth.

“No one-loss SEC team has ever missed the playoff…if we can’t play in this league and be in the playoff, something’s wrong,” Fisher said via Shehan Jeyarajah.

Quite an impassioned rant from Fisher. He also made sure to take a shot at Ohio State for only playing in six games this season.

“Seven straight SEC wins. Some schools haven’t even played seven games. If you want to pick the best four teams, we’re one of ‘em,” Fisher said.

Texas A&M certainly has an argument, but it’s hard to see the Aggies slipping into the playoff without some help. Ohio State held off Northwestern on Saturday and likely did enough to get in. Unless Clemson falls for a second time to Notre Dame, Texas A&M will definitely be left out. Even with a Tigers loss, there’s no guarantee that Fisher’s squad will be playing in a CFP semifinal.

Sometimes great seasons don’t lead to the chance to play for a National Championship. Still, the Aggies will definitely be cheering for Notre Dame to knock off Clemson on Saturday afternoon.

With a little bit of a luck, they might be able to get into the College Football Playoff.
