The New York Jets are reportedly bringing in a veteran edge rusher.
Per Brian Costello of the New York Post, the Jets are signing defensive end Solomon Thomas. Thomas was the third overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft and spent his first four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.
The Jets are signing DE Solomon Thomas, according to a source. Thomas was a 2017 first-round pick of the 49ers and played for Robert Saleh from 2017-20. He was with the Raiders last year.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter then confirmed that Thomas will be agreeing to a one-year deal.

Thomas will be reunited with Robert Saleh, who’s now the head coach of the Jets. He was the 49ers’ defensive coordinator during Thomas’ first four years in the league before leaving for the Jets.
Thomas’ rookie season has been his best season to date. He finished that year with 41 total tackles (34 solo), three sacks, and one fumble recovery.
His production went down a bit from there before he had some good production in 2021 with the Raiders. He finished this past season with 34 total tackles (17 sol0), 3.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and two passes defended.
Now that Thomas is back with Saleh, that can only mean good things for the Jets as they try and field a better defense in 2022.
