Jerry Jones Reveals His 1 ‘Wish’ For Dak Prescott

March 29, 2022 by The Spun

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott

Despite a calf injury which cost him one game and may have impacted his play in other contests, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott turned in another strong season in 2021.

The 28-year-old veteran passed for 4,449 yards and a career-high 37 touchdowns, leading the Cowboys to a 12-5 regular season record and NFC East title. Dallas fell short of its ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl, but Prescott still played like a top-10 QB.

Heading into the offseason, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is hoping that his franchise quarterback will continue to develop his rapport with his receiving corps.

“My wish would be for him to get as much time throwing to our receivers as he can this offseason,” Jones said, via Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News.

Most of Prescott’s top targets from 2021 will be back next season, with one glaring exception. Wide receiver Amari Cooper was traded to the Cleveland Browns earlier this month in what was largely a cost-cutting move.

Cedrick Wilson Jr. also won’t be back in Dallas after signing a free agent deal with the Miami Dolphins. CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup will be the Cowboys’ top options at wideout, followed by Noah Brown, Malik Turner and others.

Tight end Dalton Schultz will also be returning after Dallas exercised its franchise tag on the fifth-year pro.
