The Brooklyn Nets entered the 2020-21 season with a championship-or-bust mentality, and that was well before the team acquired All-Star guard James Harden in a blockbuster trade.
On paper, a trio of Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving seems unbeatable. The Nets never really had the chance to see if that’s true due to injuries. Every time a star would return to the lineup, another one would head to the sidelines with an injury.
Injuries played a huge factor in the playoffs too, as Harden and Irving both went down in the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Milwaukee Bucks. Durant nearly led the Nets to the next round, but his heroic efforts weren’t enough.
With the 2020-21 season officially in the books, Harden and the Nets are ready to turn the page and get ready for the fall.
During an interview with Michael Shapiro of Sports Illustrated, Harden made an emphatic statement about Brooklyn’s chances of winning a title next season.
“At full strength, nobody can beat us,” Harden told Shapiro, via Sports Illustrated. “I’m just going to leave it at that.”

Although they have all the talent in the world, Harden ultimately knows the Nets’ health will determine how far they go next season.
“There’s no chip at all, no chip for us,” Harden said. “We’re just excited. We’re focused. We know what we have to do. The biggest thing is us being healthy, which we will be. Honestly, we’re just excited to play a whole season together. That’s the exciting part.”
The Nets are currently the odds-on favorites to win the 2022 NBA Finals.
