The Jacksonville Jaguars‘ injury list got a new addition following Thursday’s practice.
Tavon Austin went down with an injury on Thursday, according to Mark Long of the Associated Press. The former college football superstar signed with the Jaguars at the beginning of the month.
This could potentially be another devastating setback for Jacksonville. Some expected Austin to fill in for Travis Etienne, who will be out for the season with a Lisfranc injury he suffered earlier this preseason. Now, it looks like Austin is in jeopardy of missing time, depending on the severity of his injury.
The Jaguars just can’t seem to catch a break. Hopefully Austin’s injury isn’t anything serious.

Urban Meyer has always found roles for players like Tavon Austin throughout his coaching career. It was no surprise when he brought him on board.
Austin has 220 catches for 2,026 yards and 15 touchdowns in addition to 1,340 rushing yards and 10 additional scores over his career. He’s still an electric play-maker and is almost always capable of providing a spark. Given the Jaguars’ current situation, they’ll need Austin at his best.
Jacksonville hasn’t inspired much confidence so far during the preseason. The Jaguars haven’t been able to protect Trevor Lawrence all too well and his supporting cast has been unimpressive. And let’s not forget Urban Meyer is learning on the job.
Etienne’s injury was the first major blow for the Jaguars ahead of the 2021 season. Austin could potentially be the next. We’ll find out shortly.
