One of the best pitchers in baseball is banged up.
New York Mets manager Buck Showalter has announced that deGrom has a tight right shoulder and that he may not make his scheduled start on Friday.
News: Jacob deGrom has a tight right shoulder, Buck Showalter says, and he may not make tomorrow’s scheduled start.
Obviously not ideal a week out from Opening Day.

deGrom was fresh off another great start on Sunday going into this start. He struck out three batters in the first inning alone.
He also pitched for three total innings in this start and gave up four hits, plus struck out five total batters.
The MLB world is a bit nervous for deGrom and what this could mean for opening day.
You have to absolutely be kidding me. We can’t have anything nice, ever. https://t.co/AGaJwTd7UT

For all of the positive moves the Mets made this winter, much of their fortunes still very much rely on the right arm of Jacob deGrom.
Hopefully it’s nothing, but obviously not the news you’re looking for a week away from the season starting. https://t.co/8zmCSIyL4V

deGrom is expected to be a Cy Young candidate again, especially if he pitched the way he did last year. He finished the 2021 season with a 7-2 record and only allowed 11 earned runs.
He also had an ERA of 1.08 and struck out 146 batters.
Hopefully, this is just a precaution and he’s good to go for the season. The sport is better when he’s healthy and doing his thing.
