Despite the fact that Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson will not face criminal charges, he’s subject to potential discipline under the league’s personal-conduct policy.
On the latest episode of The Pat McAfee Show, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport had an update non Watson’s status for the start of the 2022 season.
Rapoport said the NFL is taking its time with this process because it doesn’t want to announce a ruling on Watson without having all the information present. That being said, it’s still unclear what type of punishment the Pro Bowl quarterback will face, if any.
“Making sure you have all the information before weighing in is something that is really significant,” Rapoport told McAfee. “Everyone wants to know right now how long is he going to be suspended. Is it going to be four games, six games, eight games, no games? Those are all basically the possibilities.
“As of right now, I don’t know how long he is gonna be suspended. I think teams assumed it would be a handful, but no one actually knows.”
