On Thursday night, the Green Bay Packers made the shocking decision to trade star wide receiver Davante Adams.
According to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Packers are receiving the Raiders first and second-round picks in exchange for Adams. Meanwhile, the star wideout receives a massive pay day.
According to Rapoport, Adams signed a new contract worth $141.25M over 5 years for an average of over $28 million per season. It’s a massive loss for the Packers, who don’t really have a replacement for Adams.
Green Bay’s failed attempt at retaining Adams wasn’t for lack of trying, according to Packers insider Rob Demovsky. According to him, the Packers offered the same contract the Raiders did, but Adams chose Las Vegas.
“Per a source, the Packers were willing to pay Adams equally to what the Raiders are with this new deal but Adams preferred to play elsewhere. Aaron Rodgers was aware of the developments with Adams as they unfolded in recent days.”

Adams now reunites with his former college quarterback, Derek Carr. He also joins and arms race in the AFC West that has seen the additions of Russell Wilson, Khalil Mack and Chandler Jones in recent days.
The AFC West is now the most stacked division in the NFL and it’s anyone’s division to win.
