Earlier this month, police arrested former United States Women’s National Team star Hope Solo for driving under the influence.
On Friday night, she announced she plans to enter an in-patient alcohol treatment program. She also hopes that the Hall of Fame will postpone her induction until next year while she undergoes treatment.
“I have contacted the Hall of Fame and respectfully requested a postponement of my Hall of FAme induction ceremony to 2023. I will be voluntarily entering an in-patient alcohol treatment program to address my challenges with alcohol. At this time, my energies and focus are totally directed to my health, healing and taking care of my family.”

According to the report from TMZ, police arrested Solo for driving while intoxicated. The former star goalie allegedly resisted arrest and had her two young daughters in the vehicle as well.
A statement from her lawyers at the time read, “The story is more sympathetic than the initial charges suggest and she looks forward to her opportunity to defend these charges.”
Solo, 40, was taken into custody in a Walmart parking lot and transported to Forsyth County jail for processing. The retired goalkeeper was booked for DWI, resisting arrest and misdemeanor child abuse.
Hopefully she gets the help she needs moving forward.
