Here’s Why Titans Only Had To Give Up 6th Round Pick For Robert Woods

March 20, 2022 by The Spun

Robert Woods being tackled.

When the football world saw that it only cost the Titans a sixth-round pick to acquire Rams standout wide receiver Robert Woods, they couldn’t believe it.

But on Saturday night, Monday Morning Quarterback’s Albert Breer broke down why exactly Woods went for such a bargain bin price.

“It’s a 2023 sixth-rounder going to the Rams for WR Robert Woods,” Breer reported. “Woods is a really good player but is coming back from a torn ACL, is expensive ($13.5 million in 2022), and turns 30 next month.”

Robert Woods turned himself into quite the receiver when he arrived in sunny, Los Angeles. Sean McVay really found a way to get the most out of Woods’ skillset. Utilizing his quickness in and out of breaks, his run after the catch ability and his excellent run blocking.

The USC product put up his biggest numbers in 2018 and 2019, However, he was just as effective in 2020 where he was utilized a bit more in the Rams’ running game.

All that said, Woods is a great find for Mike Vrabel and the Titans who are in desperate need of playmakers on the outside. Not to mention his blocking ability should help King Henry as he looks to add a second 2,000-yard rushing season to his resume.

Even if it doesn’t work out, for whatever reason, Tennessee would’ve only given up a late-round pick to take a flier on a WR anybody would want on their team.
