Since the team’s Super Bowl victory in 2012, John Mara and the New York Giants have just one playoff appearance and a 61-100 record.
On Wednesday, Mara admitted that he needs to work to regain the trust of Giants Nation given his team’s recent struggles.
“I haven’t given Giants fans any reason to believe I’ll get it right. It’s going to take time. We’re going to need to earn their trust again,” he said, per New York insider Ryan Dunleavy.

Finishing 4-13 this year, Mara and the Giants have now notched five straight seasons with 10 or more losses. Earlier this week, the organization parted ways with both head coach Joe Judge and general manager Dave Gettleman.
Mara was asked point blank if this is the most embarrassed he’s ever been in his team.
“Honestly, I would have to say yes. Yes it is,” he responded, per Ralph Vacchiano if SNY. “I kept thinking during the season we had hit rock bottom, then each week it got a little worse.”
The 2021 Giants ended their season with a six-game losing streak. In five of those games, the floundering offense scored 10 or fewer points.
It will certainly be interesting to see what direction John Mara and the New York front office go in their search for new leadership this offseason.
