Giants Are Reportedly Trading For Former 1st Round Pick

The New York Giants needed help at offensive line ahead of the 2021 season. It looks like they’re going to get it.

The Giants have reportedly acquired offensive lineman Billy Price in a trade with the Cincinnati Bengals. Price, a 2018 first-round pick out of Ohio State, has played in 42 games over his three-year NFL career. He probably slots in as the backup center in the Big Apple, though he’s also played at guard during his professional career.

In return, New York is sending defensive lineman BJ Hill to Cincinnati. Hill, a three-year veteran, has 116 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks in 48 games during his career so far.

The Giants have bolstered their offensive line depth while the Bengals get a three-year veteran defensive lineman. It sounds like a win-win for both teams.

Billy Price needed a fresh start. The former first-round pick out of Ohio State had a strong start to his professional career, starting 10 games at center during his rookie year. He’s since become more of a depth player. He started eight games in 2019 and just one in 2020.

Price’s versatility could prove to be a major benefit to the Giants offensive line this upcoming season. He has spent time at center and both left and right guard during his NFL days. And though he’s unlikely to start, he adds excellent depth at interior offensive line for the Giants offense.

The New York Giants begin the 2021 season on Sunday, Sept. 12 against the Denver Broncos.
