Plenty of great professional athletes have gone across sport lines to purchase ownership of teams in other markets. Reigning Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is reportedly the most recent star to do so.

According to MLB insider Jeff Passan, the Milwaukee Bucks superstar is purchasing a stake in his hometown Brewers franchise.

While details of his purchase have yet to be disclosed, MLB Network insider John Heyman earlier reported that it would be a “small” minority stake in the franchise.

Ever since his was selected by the Bucks with the No. 15 overall pick in the 2013 draft, Giannis has been intensely loyal to the city of Milwaukee. On multiple occasions, the “Greek Freak” has indicated his desire to stay put in Wisconsin.

In December of last year, Giannis put his money where his mouth is, signing a massive five-year, $228 million contract with the Bucks before leading them to an NBA title.

As mentioned by Passan in his reports, Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes made a similar move last summer — joining a minority ownership group for the Royals.

Giannis is joining the Milwaukee baseball organization at just the right time. Currently holding a 74-48 record, the Brewers are well positioned at the top spot in the NL East.
