April 1, 2022 by The Spun

George Karl stands on the sideline.

One of the best coaches in NBA history is finally being inducted into the Hall Of Fame.

Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, George Karl will be part of the class of 2022 in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

George Karl, the NBA’s sixth-winningest head coach ever, will be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball @Hoophall Class of 2022, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

Karl coached numerous teams throughout his coaching career but spent the most amount of time with the Denver Nuggets. He was the Nuggets’ head coach for nine seasons from (2004-2013) and led them to the playoffs multiple times.

He also took the Seattle Supersonics to the NBA Finals in 1996, though they lost in six games to the Chicago Bulls. Phil Jackson was coaching the Bulls during the time before he coached the Lakers.

Karl coached in nearly 2,000 games and finished with a record of 1,175-824. He’s only behind Gregg Popovich, Don Nelson, Lenny Wilkens, Jerry Sloan, and Pat Riley for the most wins among any NBA coaches.

The NBA world is ecstatic by this news.

Happy for George. His time as coach coincided with the rise of Denver Stiffs. Seems like decades ago now and in another world. Congrats to coach Karl. @denverstiffs @afeinst21 @NateTimmonsCSG https://t.co/cYyP5D0LwG
